Irish Pewter Claddagh Cross

This beautifully made cross if a well know symbol of Ireland. 8" high it comes presented in a lovely green gift box a perfect gift for a new home. St. Brigid of Kildare was an Early Christian nun, and is the only female patron saint of Ireland. Her feast day is February 1st, and is widely celebrated around Ireland. She founded many monasteries around Ireland, particularly in Kildare. She is the patron saint of babies, blacksmiths, brewers, Florida, infants; Ireland; Leinster, midwives, nuns, poets, the poor, sailors, scholars, and  travellers.

The ancient craft of pewter making was revived in Ireland by Paddy Collins in Mullingar in 1974. Paddy’s son Peter now runs the business and the pieces are still made in the traditional way in their workshop by local people specially trained in the old casting methods, meticulous assembly and delicate hand finishing. These skills take years to acquire. The collection shows the highest standards of design and quality control in the production of these exquisite gifts.
